Dear BB. A LL.B Third Year Students,
Internal Assessment–II for the course Judicial Process and Judicial Services shall be conducted in the form of a video-based judicial interpretation of a decided case.
Nature of Assessment: Judicial Interpretation of a Judicial Decision
Total Marks: 25
Individual submissions only
For this internal assessment, each student shall:
1. Select one recently decided Indian judicial case (Supreme Court or High Court only) relevant to the subject of Judicial Process and Judicial Services.
2. Individually record a video presenting a judicial interpretation of the selected case.
3. In the video, the student must:
o Identify the legal issue(s) involved in the case.
o Explain the judicial reasoning adopted by the court.
o Discuss the interpretative method used by the judge(s) (e.g., literal, purposive, harmonious, etc.).
o Provide a critical appreciation of the judgement, highlighting strengths, limitations, or implications.
4. The presentation must reflect analytical reasoning from a judicial perspective, not a mere summary of facts.
5. The student must appear on screen throughout the video and present within the prescribed time limit.
6. The final video must be submitted strictly as per the submission instructions and format mentioned below.
Video Duration:
· Maximum length: 4 minutes
· A grace period of 15 seconds is permitted.
· Penalty: 1 mark will be deducted for every 15 seconds beyond the permitted time limit, i.e., 4.15 minutes.
Evaluation Rubrics:
1. Identification of Legal Issue(s) – 5 marks
2. Judicial Reasoning & Interpretative Method – 6 marks
3. Application of Judicial Process Concepts – 5 marks
4. Critical Appreciation – 4 marks
5. Presentation & Communication – 5 marks
Submission details
· Mode: PDF on Moodle
· Please follow the steps below carefully before submitting to Moodle:
1. Upload your video to your SLSP Drive.
2. Create a folder named Your Name PRN.
3. Place the video inside this folder.
4. Set the folder access to “Anyone with the link can view.”
5. Copy the folder link.
6. Open a Word document and mention the following details:
o Name
o PRN
o Case Name
o Google Drive Link
7. Save the Word document and convert it into PDF format.
8. Upload the PDF file to Moodle.
Ensure all steps are completed correctly before submission.
Mandatory Instructions
· The student must appear on screen in the video.
· The case must be a decided Indian judicial decision (Supreme Court or any of the High Courts).
· Students must ensure originality in analysis. Plagiarism or impersonation will be dealt with strictly as per the SIU rules.
· Reading directly from notes or scripts will attract a mark deduction.
· Use of AI tools without independent understanding and attribution may lead to disqualification.
· The video format must be MP4 or MOV, with clear audio and video quality.
· The file naming format will be “NAME_PRN”.
· Marks will be deducted for each day’s late submission. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure the correct file is submitted.
· In case of medical leave, only medical certificates issued by SCHC will be considered.
· Late submissions will incur a penalty of one mark per day.
